Our History
2013
Discussions begin
Discussion about starting a local association are led by Denise Hernandez. CHW leaders and allies across the metroplex met consistently for 2 years to outline the structure and purpose of the organization.
2015
Formally established as a 501(c)3
The DFW-CHW Association received its articles of incorporation and was established as 501(c)3.
2016
Binational Health Week Symposium
Hosted the Binational Health Week Symposium in partnership with the Mexican Consulate and the University of Texas at Arlington.
2017
1st Employer Forum
Hosted first CHW Employer Forum to advocate for adequate supervision and collaboration with CHWs in the workplace.
2018
1st Annual Regional Conference
Hosted the First Annual Regional Conference for CHWs across the metroplex.
2020
Expanded Membership Support
Amid the pandemic, the DFW-CHW Association established the Membership Relief Fund and focused on COVID-19 related activities.
2021
Established Executive Director Position
With the growth of the association, the Board voted to officially establish an Executive Director position to focus on expanding collaborations and partnerships with CHW allies across the metroplex.
DFW-CFW Projects
The DFW-CHW Association offers engaging professional development events including four quarterly meetings annually, an annual conference, and other continuing education classes. We also provide a range of opportunities to participate in various CHW-led projects, the following is a a glimpse of the projects we’ve worked on and some events held to-date.
